PDP Professionals order Wike camp out of National HQ
The Conference of Professionals in the People’s Democratic Party has told loyalists of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to leave the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, citing a recent Court of Appeal judgment.
In a statement on Sunday, the group’s National Coordinator, Obinna Nwachukwu, said the ruling in Appeal No. CA/IB/M.90/2026 removed any legal basis for the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led camp to continue occupying the secretariat.
He warned that members of the faction should vacate “immediately or risk being removed through legitimate force.”
Nwachukwu said the appellate court had settled key issues in the party’s internal leadership dispute, leaving “no room for any group without constitutional backing to continue acting in the name of the PDP.”
“The judgment has effectively stripped the recalcitrant elements of any legally recognisable authority, exposing their continued occupation of the party’s office as a brazen act of lawlessness, trespass, and political imposture,” he said.
According to the group, the court examined the controversy over lawyer Dapo Durosaro’s appearance for the party and for Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, whom the group recognises as National Chairman.
A central issue, the statement said, was whether A.K. Ajibade, SAN, retained powers as National Legal Adviser to delegate legal authority after his suspension on November 1, 2025.
The group said the court ruled that Ajibade “lost every constitutional power attached to his office” after the suspension. It quoted the judgment: “Any exercise of the power conferred on a party official by the party’s constitution, while a suspension subsists, is an exercise in futility.”
The PDP Professionals added that the appellate court upheld the 608th National Working Committee decision that transferred the legal office’s duties to the National Directorate of Legal Services and authorised Durosaro to represent the party and its leadership.
Although Ajibade’s suspension lasted one month, the group said, the court noted his tenure expired in December 2025, making any later claim to the office “legally untenable.”
