Kwara Monarch Allegedly Dies in Bandits’ Captivity Despite ₦21m Ransom
The traditional ruler of Olayinka community in Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State, has allegedly died in captivity despite his community paying ₦21 million in ransom, a freed kidnap victim has claimed.
The source, recently released by bandits in Sagbe, told _SaharaReporters_ that the monarch was abducted about a month ago and killed by his captors.
According to the victim, the kidnappers demanded and collected ₦21 million, two new motorcycles and a jerrycan of petrol before negotiations broke down.
“The traditional ruler of Olayinka in Ifelodun LGA was killed by his abductors despite the ransom payment made by the community,” the source said.
The revelation has thrown Olayinka community into mourning. Residents said they had hoped the ransom would secure the monarch’s release.
As of press time, Kwara security agencies had not issued an official statement on the reported death or the coordinated attacks in the area.
Residents are calling on authorities to intensify security operations amid rising insecurity across parts of the state.
