Ibadan North Rep Oyekunle Mourns Bodija Market Rainstorm Victim, Orders Probe

Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed sorrow over last week’s rainstorm at Bodija Market that killed one person and injured several others.

In a statement released through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bodija Akinwale, the lawmaker described the incident as “unfortunate and heartbreaking.” He extended condolences to the family of the deceased and all those affected.

“No family should have to experience such a painful loss from a natural disaster,” Oyekunle said.

The lawmaker said he has directed a proper investigation into the cause and circumstances of the incident to prevent a recurrence and strengthen safety measures in markets and public spaces across the constituency.

He assured residents that government agencies would take necessary steps to address the aftermath and ensure lessons are learned to avert similar tragedies.

Oyekunle also urged market stakeholders and residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities on safety standards, especially during adverse weather.

He prayed for comfort for the bereaved and speedy recovery for the injured, while reaffirming his commitment to the welfare and safety of constituents.
