JUST IN: Tinubu Hosts State Governors At Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors at a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the State House in Aso Rock, Abuja.

The gathering marks the third consecutive year of the President’s annual Ramadan tradition of hosting political leaders and senior government officials to break the fast during the holy month.

The event brought together governors, deputy governors and top government functionaries.

According to The PUNCH, governors sighted at the Presidential Villa before 7:00 p.m. included Hope Uzodinma of Imo; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun; Monday Okpebholo of Edo; Usman Ododo of Kogi; Babagana Zulum of Borno; Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe; Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto; Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta; Mohammed Bago of Niger; Umar Namadi of Jigawa; Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa; Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano; and Agbu Kefas of Taraba.

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila and several cabinet members were present at the dinner.

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that in previous years, President Tinubu has used the occasion to preach unity among political leaders and stress the need for selfless service.

At the 2025 Iftar, the President urged governors and ministers to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians, admonishing them to “Do more for your people.”

He also emphasised national cohesion, saying Nigeria should be seen as “one big family living under the same roof,” irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Similarly, at the 2024 edition, Tinubu appealed to state governors to set aside political differences and concentrate on governance.

“The time for politics is over. It is now time for governance,” he had declared.

The President is expected to host additional Iftar gatherings with senior government officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic corps as Ramadan progresses.

Naija News reports that in past Ramadan observances, former President Muhammadu Buhari also hosted leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, party chieftains and other stakeholders at similar fast-breaking events.
