3 feared dead at Bola Oyebamiji’s residence in Ikire

Three persons have been confirmed dead at the country home of Mr. Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the alleged imposed gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for 8th August, 2026.

The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred on Saturday during an event organised by Mr. Oyebamiji at his Ikire residence, where food items and cash gifts were being distributed to members of the public in celebration of the New Year.

According to insider reports, the items shared included two mudus of rice, a plate of jollof rice, and an envelope containing 2,000 Naira.

Apesin-Abiodun Adegoke, National Coordinator, Concerned Citizens of Nigeria, in a statement made available to MOUTHPIECE NGR said, during the distribution, a stampede allegedly ensued, leading to the tragic death of a woman identified as Mrs. Buli Balogun, popularly known as Iya Eleelo, and two children who were reportedly crushed to death.

It was further gathered that Mrs. Buli Balogun was laid to rest on Sunday at her husband’s residence in Ikire.

The statement further read: “As a concerned citizen, I hereby call on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to immediately investigate this ugly and avoidable incident.

“Any matter involving the loss of lives of Osun citizens must not be swept under the carpet or treated with levity.

“I also call on well-meaning citizens of Osun State to join in demanding a full and transparent account of the circumstances surrounding this tragic occurrence, which claimed the lives of innocent souls at the residence of an APC governorship candidate in Ikire.

“Leadership is a responsibility, and anyone who fails to safeguard the lives of the people should not aspire to lead them. We are reminded of a similar incident that occurred some time ago in Ibadan involving veteran radio presenter Oriyomi Hamzat and Olori Sikeola Ogunwusi, where justice was served and the individuals involved were detained at the Agodi Correctional Centre, irrespective of their social status.

“Justice must be served in this case as well. Justice for Mrs. Buli Balogun and the two children. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
