Olubadan: Atiku to Visit Oba Ladoja Amidst Speculation Over Absence from Coronation

MOUTHPIECE NGR can report that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will tomorrow pay a visit to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Atiku’s sudden visit has continued to spark interest, especially given his absence from the coronation ceremony which was well attended by President Bola Tinubu and several political figures.

However, it’s worth noting that Atiku had earlier congratulated Ladoja on his coronation, praising the monarch’s wealth of experience as a businessman, politician, and seasoned administrator.

He expressed confidence that Ladoja would create a positive impact during his reign, leveraging his diverse background to benefit the people of Ibadan.

It should be recalled that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, had last week visited Oba Ladoja at his private residence.

During his visit, Obi praised Ibadan’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political history.

Obi, who also failed to put up an appearance at the coronation ceremony on Friday, added that Ibadanland had always played a pivotal role in both the socio-economic and political history of Nigeria.

The ex-governor of Anambra State, who was accompanied on his visit by a chieftain of LP and prominent indigenes of Igboland acknowledged the contributions of the indigenes of Ibadanland, both at home and diaspora, to the growth of the country.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the noticeable absence of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi from the Olubadan coronation ceremony on Friday has sparked speculation. As some believe that their absence may be attributed to the presence of President Bola Tinubu, who was their contender in the 2023 general elections, others were of the opinion that they were unavoidably absent.

These speculations highlight the complex dynamics of Nigerian politics, where past electoral rivalries can influence interactions and relationships between prominent figures.

The upcoming visits by Atiku and Obi’s prior visit to Olubadan Ladoja may be seen as efforts to maintain diplomatic relationships with traditional institutions and key stakeholders in the region.
