“I am not Maltreated, I Am Fully Involved in PDP Congress, Not in Any Parallel Congress as Alhaji J.S. Amodu claims” — Alh Tijani Omupo

A former Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Alhaji Tijani Omupo, has denied allegations of participating in a parallel congress, describing the claims as false and malicious.

In a statement on Saturday, he clarified that he was fully involved in the official PDP congress, conducted in line with the party’s directives.

Omupo reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP’s unity and guidelines, stating that he participated in the process leading to the selection and election of new ward executives and ad-hoc delegates.

He emphasized his loyalty to the party and rejected attempts to associate him with actions that could divide the PDP.

Meanwhile, M.A. Lawal described the ward congress in Irepo Local Government as peaceful, free, and fair, with all tendencies participating under the supervision of INEC and security agencies. He urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on verified facts.

Omupo said: “My attention has been drawn to certain reports alleging that I took part in a parallel congress in Irepo Local Government. I wish to state unequivocally that this claim is false, misleading, and malicious. At no point did I join or participate in any parallel congress, nor did I sponsor such an exercise.

“I am fully involved in the PDP congress, not in any parallel congress with anybody or group. I stand firmly in support of the PDP’s ruling and guidelines guiding the election of new ward executives across the 10 wards of Irepo Local Government, as I was fully involved in the process leading to the selection and electing the new ward executives and the adhoc delegates which went successfully.

“My commitment to the unity of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), remains unwavering. I have always believed that internal disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and inclusiveness, not through acts that may weaken our collective strength.”

“Recall that at a recent PDP stakeholders’ engagement held in Ibadan, he had openly cautioned against caucus politics within the party, emphasizing that caucuses often cause division and destruction. “It is unfortunate that my name is being dragged into controversies I know nothing about. I strongly reject these attempts to associate me with actions capable of dividing the party,” he noted.

“I remain a loyal party man, dedicated to peace, inclusiveness, and the continued progress of the PDP in Irepo Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large. Nobody should drag me into anything that can endanger the unity of our dear party.”

M.A Lawal added that the congress was successfully held in all ten wards under the supervision of INEC and security agencies, with all tendencies within the party participating. The results have been submitted to the PDP state secretariat in Ibadan. Claims of crisis or marginalization are baseless and likely stem from groups not involved in the process. We urge the public to disregard misinformation and rely on verified facts.
