Oko Town is a Testament to SMATO 2:0 in 2027 Re – Election ~ Hon. Sanjo Afolabi

One of the community leader, Hon. Sanjo Afolabi has declared that the transformation of Oko Ward under the leadership of Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola (SMATO) is a clear testimony that the lawmaker deserves a renewed mandate in 2027.

In a statement made available to the media bureau He noted that Oko, once a forgotten and neglected town, has now been completely transformed into a hub of development, serving as proof that purposeful leadership that change lives

According to him, “what we see in Oko today is not ordinary politics but genuine governance. SMATO has delivered in just two years what others could not achieve in more than a decade.”

One of the most remarkable interventions that stands tall in Oko today is the completion of the Oko Water Supply Project, which had been abandoned for over twelve years by the immediate past administration. For more than a decade, residents were subjected to hardship, with broken hopes and failed promises of clean water.

However, through SMATO’s decisive leadership, the project was revived, contractors re-engaged, and water will start flowing in a few months time. This singular achievement has restored confidence in governance and brought relief to countless households who had suffered for too long.

Beyond water, Hon. Makanjuola also turned his attention to the long-abandoned Oko Community Health Centre, which was practically lifeless due to a lack of power supply. The facility could not serve its purpose, leaving the people with no choice but to travel long distances for even basic healthcare.

Recognising this gap, SMATO facilitated the installation of an industrial solar mini-grid power system, which has now given the health centre 24-hour electricity. With this intervention, the centre can now perform critical medical services, preserve blood, and attend to emergencies at any time. What was once a monument of despair has now become a beacon of hope and a true lifeline for the people of Oko and surrounding communities.

SMATO’s passion for healthcare did not stop there. At the inauguration of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Comprehensive Health Centre in Oko, he made a personal donation of ₦5 million to strengthen its infrastructure.

This bold step was widely celebrated as a demonstration of people-first leadership, proving once again that his focus is on improving the welfare of his constituents rather than playing politics with their needs. His investment has enhanced the hospital’s capacity and expanded its ability to serve residents, further cementing his reputation as a leader who matches words with action.

In addition to healthcare and water, SMATO has also brought infrastructural renewal to Oko with the asphalting of a 2km road within the town. For years, residents have endured the frustration of navigating poor and dusty roads that hindered movement, trade, and development.

Today, thanks to SMATO’s intervention, Oko boasts a modern road network that not only eases transportation but also strengthens local commerce and connects the community more effectively with neighbouring areas. This has changed the daily lives of residents and has given Oko a new face of progress.

Reflecting on these interventions, Hon. Sanjo Afolabi observed that Oko has become the poster child of SMATO’s representation. He explained that in just two years, the lawmaker has achieved milestones that clearly separate him from the failures of the past.

In his words, “when you see abandoned projects completed, health centres working, water flowing after years of silence, and new roads replacing the dust of neglect, you know leadership has changed. That is why Oko Ward today is SMATO’s strongest campaign poster. Oko alone is enough to guarantee his re-election—because the people know he delivers.”

Indeed, Oko Ward today stands as a symbol of the new direction of governance under Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola. His interventions have touched the lives of thousands, turning despair into hope and neglect into development. For constituents across Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Oko is no longer just a ward—it is proof that with SMATO, progress is not just a promise, it is a reality.
