Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has congratulated President-General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barr. Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, and his wife, Alhaja Alirat Abimbola Ajewole, on the new chieftancy titles bestowed on them.
Ajewole and his wife were installed on Saturday as Aare Atunluse and Yeye Atunluse of Ibadan land by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I for their landmark achievements in the state.
In his congratulatory message on Monday, the Deputy Governor, who was recently conferred the honor of ‘Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadanland’ Award by CCII, described Ajewole as a highly esteemed individual who has made impact across all human endeavours.
He noted that the new title will encourage the President-General to use his connections to further advance the ancient city of Ibadanland.
Barr. Lawal equally commended the decision of Olubadan of Ibadanland as well as Olubadan-in-council, in the selection of Ajewole for the exalted position, stating that the timing was auspicious.
His words: “I have the pleasure of rejoicing with you and your wife on your installation by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, as the Aaare Aare Atunluse and Yeye Atunluse of Ibadan land.
“The Olubadan and Olubadan-in-council made a wise decision in carefully selecting you for the high-level role, and I am impressed by their choice. I sincerely commend their efforts, and the timing is fortuitous.
“Over the years, you have been a quiet achiever whose character forbids making a fuss. There is no denying your enormous contributions to Ibadanland’s progress.
“Apart from the fact that the title is well-deserved, the recognition validated you as a highly esteemed individual who has significantly influenced human endeavours in Ibadan and Oyo State at large.
“I have no doubt that your new position would encourage you to leverage your connections to further secure Ibadanland’s development.
Recall that the conferment of the Aare Atunluse chieftaincy title on the CCII President-General took place at Olubadan’s palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
The ceremony, which was witnessed by prominent Ibadan sons and daughters, threw the entire palace into frenzy as it was regarded as a recognition of Ajewole’s outstanding service to Ibadan land.
