Kajola LG Chairman suspended over alleged misappropriation of funds
The legislative arm of Kajola Local Government area of Oyo State, on Wednesday, suspended its Chairman, Afolabi Salimonu, popularly called Borikansunwon, indefinitely.
A document for the suspension which was obtained by Inside Oyo revealed that the chairman was suspended by the councillors during a sitting at the Legislative Chamber of the council’s secretariat.
The sitting had elected councillors for the 11 wards made up of the LGA.
They said the move was in strict compliance with the constitutional framework, procedure and government legislative arm in the state.
The councillors said, “The indefinite suspension was engendered, engineered and born out of seemingly ever-growing and uncheck mated executive excesses and recklessness, stiff-nakedness, recalcitrancy on the part of executive chairman coupled with gross and wanton misappropriation of funds.
“The indefinite suspension takes immediate effect without any further delay whatsoever.
It added, “The majority leader in the person of Adediran Tajudeen representing Ward 02 (Elero) moved the motion on indefinite suspension while the deputy leader in the person of Amusat Adebare representing Ward 09 (Isia) seconded the motion.
“The sitting was presided over by the leader of the legislative council in the person of Ayegboyin Kehinde representing ward 08 (Isemi-Ile/Ilua).”
As of press time, all efforts to get the chairman’s reaction proved abortive as he was not picking up his call nor replying to text messages sent to him.
