AHEAD of the forthcoming 2023 general elections, the deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal has hosted notable Party stakeholders in Oyo North Senatorial district as well as candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party to a dinner with the aim of strategizing on electoral victory.
Lawal, who is running with Governor Seyi Makinde in the upcoming election for Omituntun 2.0 held a dinner cum meeting with the Party members at his Bashorun home in Ibadan on Friday.
He asserted that the goal of the gathering is to win the upcoming elections, adding that collective efforts will be more effective than individual ones in supporting the governor’s efforts.
The purpose, according to Lawal, was to have solely National Assembly members, but it was enlarged with the inclusion of state assembly members as well as those who are significant Party stakeholders and whose contributions will help the party prevail.
“With the already-released campaign timetable, all that must be done for the Party to succeed should be discussed, especially any problems or grey areas that need to be resolved.
“In order for us to be successful in the upcoming general elections in 2023, we are prepared to handle all problems within the Party, including by meeting with aggrieved members.
The deputy governor who also asked the chairmen and state assembly members who were present to equally state the challenges in their various local government with a view to finding a lasting solution ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The meeting resolved to work together to ensure the victory of Party candidates while also commending Governor Seyi Makinde who has been exemplary in his leadership of the state in the last three and half years, adding that his achievements will make the job of Party members easier.
Equally, the Group of Miyetti Allah in Oyo State led by its patron, Akinteru Akinsegun also in a separate meeting with the deputy governor promised to ensure the victory of PDP candidates in the forthcoming election.
Present at the meeting include party Chieftains, chairmen, candidates, OYSROMA chairman, among others.
