2023: Oyo Professional tailors endorse Makinde, extol Lawal’s virtues (VIDEO) 

The chances of Governor Seyi Makinde, the PDP governorship candidate, in the 2023 election, have received a boost ahead of others as Oyo tailors on the platform of Nigeria Society of Professional Tailors across the 33 local government in the state endorsed his re-election bid as the best choice. 

Makinde received the endorsement when the wife of the deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola Lawal met with coordinators from 33 local governments to ask for their support and had over 251 members present at the association secretariat on Monday in Goodness Estate, Arulogun, who all enthusiastically and passionately chanted “Seyi Bayo, Ijoba Ren Te Si Waju.” 

The announcement was made during a discussion between the association and the wife of the deputy governor about the areas where the government has had a significant impact and their strategies for mobilizing large numbers of voters to support Governor Seyi Makinde’s reelection in order to keep the state moving forward. 

Segun Ogunsola, the group’s national president, stated that the group was supporting the Seyi/Bayo joint ticket for the 2023 election because of their leadership abilities and the support that they had been providing to Oyo State as a people-friendly government. 

He said that considering the transformation the governor has brought about for the state, cutting across all areas of human development, every right-thinking person in the state should be proud of him.

The president extolled the virtue of Her Excellency, Chief Ajibola Lawal with the way she takes care of people and everyone who visits her at home, stating that she’s one in a million, and further described her as a woman of valor and humility who does not look down on anyone but rather embraces everyone in the highest respect. 

He revealed that she was running an NGO for widows and orphanages even before her husband was appointed deputy governor of Oyo State, praying for God’s protection over her. 

In his words: “On behalf of Nigeria Professional Teachers, I am officially announcing that we have resolved to support Seyi Makinde and Bayo Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party as our governorship/deputy governorship candidate in 2023 elections.

“We are endorsing and rating Makinde higher than the other candidates for governorship in 2023 because we understand that he is the only one who is concerned about the masses and has solutions to our issues.

“We believe that if we re-elect him, everyone will benefit from his sincere love for the people and his wise intentions to advance the state.”

Members of the association urged the wife of the deputy governor to recognize NSPT and not just NUT, which does not have enough members as theirs, in their separate remarks in which they denounced the unfair treatment and marginalization of their association because there are two groups of tailors in the state. 

They requested her to help them resolve the issue and attend to some of their demands since they are prepared to mobilize strongly for the re-election of governor Seyi Makinde. 

“Even though we haven’t gotten anything in return for our support of the PDP since 2018, we have persisted in doing so because we know you will look out for our interests, and we are prepared to mobilize for the party even more forcefully than before. 

“We are not a rented crowd but rather members of the Nigerian Professional Tailors Association, which cut across 33 local governments in Oyo state. 

However, in his remarks, the brother of Governor Makinde, Mr. Kayode, who was in the entourage of the wife of the deputy governor and a convener of Seyi Makinde Lekan Si, insisted that he was pleased with the way people received Her Excellency and prayed that their goal of Governor Makinde’s reelection would be realized. 

Chief (Mrs.) Ajibola Lawal, the deputy governor’s wife, who officially introduced herself, emphasized that she couldn’t be standing in front of them without her husband, who gave her the opportunity to speak. 

She took the chance to urge them to follow suit and respect their husbands, as well as to talk to their own husbands about voting for Governor Makinde as well as their children. 

She noted that by respecting their husbands, they stand a chance of receiving their support as they have promised to re-elect Governor Seyi Makinde.

She added that she would share their message with her husband and gave Mr. Kayode, the governor’s brother, the responsibility of coordinating the necessary actions with His Excellency, Seyi Makinde. 

“I can guarantee you that you will all be compensated  and will make sure that your message is delivered to proper quarters,” she said, referring to some who had said they had not yet benefited from this government despite their support since 2018. 

“With this place that you are having your meeting, if there’s support to complete the building, it will also generate money, I can assure you once again that the necessary steps would be taken as I relay your message to the deputy governor. 

Lawal described Governor Makinde as the best-performing state executive in the country, who is so much concerned about the welfare of people, pledging to relay their message once again to His Excellency. 

“I am happy to be here once again, and I thank you all for the warm reception”, she concluded.
