Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Forum of Secretaries to Local Governments in Oyo State has officially endorsed Governor Seyi Makinde for President and Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), for Governor.
The Forum, which also declared total support for all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections, said it would mobilise massively at the grassroots to ensure victory for the party across the state.
The endorsement was announced on Wednesday during the Forum’s Workshop held at the Local Government Hall, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
The well-attended event drew several political gladiators and stakeholders, including the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, local government functionaries, party loyalists and supporters.
While speaking, the Forum cordinator, Mrs. Temitope Aworele, said their decision to endorse Governor Makinde for the presidency was informed by his sterling performance, people-oriented governance and his capacity to replicate his developmental strides at the national level.
She described Hon. Adekanmbi as a competent, experienced and people-friendly politician with the requisite exposure and administrative acumen to sustain and build on the legacies of the Makinde administration in Oyo State.
According to the Forum, Adekanmbi’s track record in public service, his deep understanding of governance and his commitment to grassroots development make him the best candidate to lead Oyo State come 2027.
As part of its grassroots mobilization efforts, the Forum presented campaign posters, banners and voter education materials to Hon. Adekanmbi, pledging to deploy its structures across all 33 local government areas for intensive door-to-door campaign and voter sensitization.
The Forum, however, expressed optimism that the APM will emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections, noting that its members have resolved to work in unity to deliver overwhelming votes for the party.
Hon. Adekanmbi, while thanking the Forum for the endorsement and the donation, described it as a demonstration of confidence in the APM project and the future of Oyo State.
He assured the group of inclusive governance and sustained collaboration with local government structures to drive development to the grassroots if elected.
The 33 local government secretaries also paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief of Staff, Hon. Akinwole Akinwale, popularly known as Wolekanle, to congratulate him on his appointment, which they described as well-deserved.
