JUST IN: Lagos commissioner resigns after Oniru building collapse

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Lagos State, Idris Salako has resigned his appointment as a commissioner in Lagos state.

The Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, made this revelation via a statement on Monday.

Omotoso added that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has accepted the resignation of the commissioner.

The information commissioner has noted that the exit of Salako “is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies”.

the state Governor has thanked the former commissioner for his services and wished him success in his future engagement.

The former Commissioner has relinquished the position after multiple building collapses in the state in the last few years.

The most recent happened in Oniru in the early hours of Sunday.

In the recent collapse, a seven-storey building under construction caved in; two lost their lives and others are yet to be found.

Salako while speaking to the media, suggested that the developer was a powerful man, reaffirming the manner he chased officials of the state away during enforcement.
