‘We have lost a partner in progress’— Oyo govt pays condolence visit 

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba (Dr) Salahudeen Adekunle Oloogun ebi, saying that the state has lost ‘a partner in progress’.

While addressing the widows, family and political associates at the Aseyin’s palace, in Iseyin, Governor Makinde said the visit was to officially condole with the family over the demise of someone he described as a great man. 

The Governor, who is in company of his Deputy, Bayo Lawal, revealed that he is very close to the late Aseyin, praying that God will forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest. 

“The late Kabiyesi love Iseyin than anyone’s imagination. His death is not just a state loss but a personal loss.”

Makinde stressed that when he was thinking of constructing Iseyin to Ogbomoso road, he consulted the late monarch who informed that the road was the route his ancestors plied to Iseyin. “So, if it doesn’t have economic benefit, it has a traditional benefi”, remarked by late Aseyin. 

According to him, less than two days that Kabiyesi gave up the ghost, he signed the LAUTECH campus land under 24 hours, adding that his contribution to the development of the state can not be overemphasized. 

Makinde who later announced a befitting State burial for the late Aseyin of Iseyin, promised to continue supporting the family of his dearest friend as long as he is alive. 

He added that the government will make proper arrangement to install new Aseyin of Iseyin land as soon as possible. 

Earlier in his remarks, Ikolaba of Iseyin land, appreciated the Governor for his enormous contribution towards the development of the town. He promised that the town will reward the Governor with bloc votes in the forthcoming general election. 

In his own submission, the Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Muftau Abinlawon, appealed to the Governor to fasten the relocation of students from Ogbomoso to the LAUTECH  Campus of Agriculture in Iseyin when ASUU suspend its strike. 

Abinlawon also appreciates the efforts of Governor Makinde to revive the life of the late Aseyin until he finally gave up the ghost at UCH, Ibadan.
