BREAKING: 100L student drowns in UNILORIN river

A 100 level Unilorin student has got drowned in a river at the school farm center, Mouthpiece NGR reports.

It was learnt that Ojo Tobi Ezra who is a 100level student of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, was in company of a 400L student at the farm.

Mouthpiece NGR gathered that the 400 level student simply identified as Ruth went to the school farm in order to wet her seedbed. It was learnt that Tobi Ezra went along with her with his motorcycle.

The incident occurred some minutes past 3.0 clock when they both arrived at the farm.

According to an eye witness who spoke with our correspondent, “This is not the first time Tobi has been helping Ruth on her farm work. It was very unfortunate that the guy fell and got drowned into the river while trying to fetch the last bucket for her.

Another eyewitness added that several attempts were made to rescue him but proved abortive.

He said it was the Unilorin Fire Service and Emergency Unit that were contacted and finally removed him from the river after about an hour shortly.

Our correspondent at the University of Ilorin confirmed that the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, HOD of the department of Agronomy, Chief Security officer, Farm coordinator, FPT chairman, and some lecturers and non-teaching staff of university of Ilorin were all at the scence of the incidence shortly after they heard about it.
