South-East NAPPS passes vote of confidence on the national president, chief Yomi Otubela

The South-East Zonal chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), under the leadership of Barr. Mrs Nonye Enemuo, has passed a vote of confidence on the National President of the Association, Chief Dr. Yomi Otubela, at Umuahia, the Abia State capital last weekend, stating that the Chief Otubela is a true definition of a leader who has the interest of his members at heart.

Recall, that the Zonal chapter of the Association, NAPPS, had during the last weekend organized a leadership Congress, tagged: “SCHOOL GROWTH: WAYS TO ALTERNATIVE INCOME” at Umuahia, Abia State. 

The leadership Congress, which had the National lasted between 17th and 19th February, 2021, had the National President of NAPPS, in attendance, is aimed at repositioning for the better, the fate of the Proprietors of Private Schools, especially who are members of NAPPS in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The National Vice President of NAPPS, South-Easte Zone, Barr. Mrs Nonye Enemuo, while receiving the National President, Chief Yomi Otubela at the Akanu-Ibiam International Airport, Enugu on Wednesday, 17th February, 2021, appreciated God Almighty, for making it possible for the Zone to come up with such a program in a time like this, and for having the National President come all the way from Lagos to honour the Zone with his Executive presence. The Enugu State Chairman of NAPPS, Mr. Ike Ugwu, on whose territory the National President is being welcomed, equally appreciated God for the Privilege of welcoming the National President in his Enugu base, he equally used the opportunity to present a portrait photograph of the National President to him at the Enugu Airport, before the National President left for Umuahia were the Congress held.

On his arrival at Umuahia, Chief Otubela paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu at Government House, Umuahia.

Declaring the Congress open, the Governor of Abia State, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem immensely appreciated Private School Proprietors, especially members of NAPPS, for being dependable partners in the wheel of progress in the Education sector. He also thanked the National President, Chief Yomi Otubela for the way and manner he advocates for the welfare and well-being of his members in NAPPS.

In her Welcome address, Barr. Nonye Enemuo reiterated her vision for South-East NAPPS, which is: “To be the most valued Association in Private Education sector”, among other things.

While the Leadership Congress lasted, the National President, Chief Yomi Otubela in his lecture titled: “SCHOOL GROWTH: WAYS TO ALTERNATIVE INCOME,” charged members of NAPPS to set up programs and policies capable of making Private School Proprietors to survive  outside their school fees, saying that “when value is given, reward, productivity and success is inevitable”. To demonstrate that he values examplary  leadership and proactiveness in leadership, he practically conducted a head-count of all the leaders that attended the Leadership Congress.

Delivering his lecture, the immediate past National Secretary of NAPPS, Mazi Enyi Harbor who talked on: “Professionalism In NAPPS; An Agent Of Growth For An Association” pointed out that, for NAPPS as an association to grow, “leaders must be their best on their jobs, by showing respect to others, be proactive, think ahead, and build networts and lasting professional relationships, among other things.”

In a leadership meeting held immediately after the Congress, which had in attendance all the leaders and stakeholders of NAPPS in the zone, comprising the National Vice President, Barr. Mrs Nonye Enemuo; the immediate past National Vice President, Engr. G.E.N. Udechukwu; the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Association, Mrs. F.C. Olikeze; the immediate past National Secretary of the Association, Mazi Enyi Harbor, the serving and past State Chairmen of the Association from the five States of the zone, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the National President, Chief Dr. Yomi Otubela, saying come “he is a leader with impeccable integrity, whose passion to lead the Association to the promise Land is unmatched!” They added that Chief Otubela, with the programs and policies his administration is bringing into NAPPS, will end up making it impossible for others to seek to be elected into the office of the National President, as Chief Otubela’s legacies will continue to be intimidating to successive administrations, even after many years of his reign”.

It would be recalled, the the National President, Chief Yomi Otubela, had during the Congress, appealed to Abia State Government, to look into its pronouncement that Schools in Abia would resume on Monday, 1st March 2021, as against the wishes of School Owners that Schools be allowed to resume on 22nd February. The National President, while addressing the Secretary to the State Government who represented the Governor, passionately appealed to Abia State Government, to allow Schools resume on Monday, 22nd February instead of Monday, 1st March 2021, an appeal which the State Government heeded to.

High point of the Leadership Congress, is the presentation of the Certificate of Return, to all the elected officials from the zone.
