OPINION: Why Akintola, should leave well-done, discontinue his governorship ambition to foster continuity— Isiaka Kehinde

I painstakingly read Barrister  Niyi Akintola’s  interview  during my holidays with a keen interest . The holds- no -barred  Interview was held with the south west on line publishers towards the tail end of last year and it gladdens my heart that the legal icon personally gave a pass Mark  to GSM on the area of infrastuctural  development among other areas of  Sterling achievements.

It was  captivating that the former governorship contestant   under the flagship of APC said, he would not describe the achievements of GSM  with a tranquil silence and  gave a proviso  that he would coonstructively condemn the governor if he fails in his duty to advance the development of the state. He stated that GSM  is an  achiever in His own  way.

His exact  words:.

“However, Seyi Makinde has been doing some things which can further aid the development of the state. The present administration has done some good in terms of the physical development of the state.”

Whao! This is a cold -eyed comments coming from a distant

observer.

GSM is a man who holds his hands unconquered. He divides each difficulty into as many parts as feasible as possible to resolve them as  the modern king of philosophy, Descartes advises, . He  is very transparent in dealing, not one you can call a wolf in sheep’s clothing or what WS called”wolfish ravening lamb”. He has his plans and follow them to the letter. And this irks those who consider him  a thorn in their flesh.

The question I will like to ask  the legal icon who has claimed not to be a”disco critique” is why  couldn’t  he takes up the role of a disinterested umpire;correct henceforth,  where the administration is going wrong and whip it to the right lane, in case it falters.  It’s better to stand with the administration than to stand up with it. We should at no time press for it’s down fall.

In this part of the clime,  it’s worrisome that we have natural likeness to wrestle power from ,covet and engage the occupier of an  office  in a tiff even if he doesn’t divert from clearly value based  areas,we think we can always start afresh n draw the state back. This is a clear case of ad hominem fallacy.

We forget easily that the ordinary voters are the anvils of democracy. And they are waiting with bated breaths . Anyone who revels in thrreatenig  subversion, just for it’s sake ,when the incumbent has not deviated from issue defined lane, will  bite the bullets and such is preparing to suffer a jarring defeat at the polls. People are going to say with their votes ” we can’t muzzle the ox that threshed the wheat”. What is lost on many is that”  the weapon of the weak has always been  the error of those  who think they are strong. “. George Bidault.

If the administration has the ability to perform well and is already giving signs of  towing the path of progress, that follows logically that we should allow it to continue and keep our ambitions in abeyance  As the American says , you don’t convict, until you are confused.

I will also like to remind our astute lawyer -cum- politican the golden words of Boethius  that” If the things you complain about loosing are indeed yours, you would not have lost them”. Trust in God and  Just bide your own time. What will hit you will never miss you.

Heroes doesn’t have a comfort zone, the present administration is all out to proof wrong the doubting Thomases  by taking developmental strides that shock the critics and doesn’t rest on its oars.

It needs no further emphasis that if development is hinged on good governance, it’s axiomatic that the present administration is doing fantastically well,, I will say to  our revered SAN , it’s honourable to wait for his time. Because,In 2023, there is no vacancy!  Nothing can squelch this luscious fact . I wish the law a happy new  prosperous year.

Isiaka kehinde is my name. I think, therefore I am.
