Why LAUTECH mini-campus should be located in Igbope— Mandella

A staff of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Comrade Olagbemiro Joshua Olayemi popularly known as Mandella has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to consider Igbope in his plan as one of the places for Mini-campus.

Speaking with Mouthpiece NGR correspondent in Ogbomoso on Tuesday, Comrade Mandella said ever since the creation of the community, there has not been any government intervention in the town.

He said the governor can seize the medium to extend his good gesture to the town by compensating Igbope in Orelope local government with a mini campus for community development.

Mandella who was also an alumnus of the institution decried the level at which the town has been abandoned for political appointment and position.

He noted that Governor Makinde’s deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan is from Igboho, and in fact, all political appointments has been from Igboho without any benefit from Igbope.

According to him, during the creation of Orolope local government in 1989/1990, it was stated clearly that the Oorople loca governnneht should be carved out of Irepo local government, Kishi. And the approval was given because two towns were involved which are “Igboho and Igbope “and other surrounding villages such as Mure, Sooro, Alaguntan, Lasubu, etc.

“It was in 1999 that Igbope Produced a State Honourable, Mr Mathew Oyedokun politically known as Trust-Oye. Since then, Igbope has been abandoned and deprived of government intervention.”

“Many developmental projects in our town today are courtesy of Self-help such as Adeniyi Memorial hospital and lifestyles centre.”

“In fact, the first College of Heath Technology recently opened for admission was constructed by a product of the town, Dr Micheal Adeniyi from United States of America.”

“We are appealing to Governor Seyi Makinde to consider Igbope in his plan of making LAUTECH a multi Campus for the development of the town.”

“While I also advise the governor to jettison the idea of moving existing faculties to other places, I appeal that new faculties should be created instead and situated in Igbope and other rural areas in Oyo State, Mandela said.
