LAUTECH: Care Taker Chairman Unravels Details On Incoming Student Workhop, Others

In an exclusive interview with Mouthpiece NG, the chairman of the students union care taker committee explained the reason why the union care taker committee is planning to hold the upcoming event. 

Mr Olabiyi Olamide explained that the LAUTECH student workshop is an idea to tackle disaster issues on campus such as cultism, cyber crime, yahoo-yahoo, drug abuse, and poor leadership skills which represent the position of the Union.
Olamide said there’s need for leadership training skills to educate students most especially the 100 level students who are fresh on campus. 
An expert of his statement read in part; 
“Students are no longer interested in reading their books.
“The 100 level students are fresh on campus, whatever they are taught now would be their watch words. 
“We organize the event for them to have good relationship with the likes of people that will influence them positively.
“The LAUTECH students work shop tagged, ” the excruciating culture 2019″  is to assist on good moral conduct. This will reduce the rate at which students venture into illicit business. 

“It’s a well-known fact that many of these students have really taken pleasure in frivolities while forgetting their primary assignment on campus.
“Young graduate are no longer competing for first class, but  interested in frivolities and social vices. Their are mentality of making money, riding cars, through fraudulent act is now like a norm in society.
“The event is basically to attract students, give proper orientation and introduce new ideas which are benefiting to the teeming youths.
“There’s going to be a contest among tridents, a rap, music, poetry.

“The contest will be on public speaking where students will be rewarded with prize and gifts.
“Another set of five people will also be selected to talk about drug abuse, cyber crime, etc.
“Provision to cater for the welfare of the students and make everyone comfortable on that day.
“Raffle ticket among others will also take place. Anyone that’s lucky will be given a good price.
“There would be leadership talk where alumni members would be asked to talk. They will be asked to address students on leadership and unionism.
“The topic may be central on how to handle students and why vandalization of properties is not the way to go.
“There will also be a panel session where we would have lecturers for students to ask questions on academics, etc.
“Entertainment also follows and full provision for feeding to ease tension…
