Nigerian Man’s TikTok Video On ‘Sharp Location’ Ritual Sparks Outrage
A young Nigerian man recently posted a TikTok video celebrating what he called a successful “sharp location.” In the clip, he holds up printed photos of several people — some labeled with names like Louis, Jennifer, and Hayrettin Emir — before heading to a river to perform a ritual involving washing, handling bottles of liquid, and other spiritual acts. The text overlay reads: “After sharp location nah big congrats.”
In Nigerian internet-scam circles, “sharp location” is slang for using charms or rituals to locate and target victims, often for romance or other forms of online fraud. The photos appear to be of the individuals involved in the operation he was marking as a win.
The video quickly spread to X, where user @Chime_Fave shared it with a warning that some things should never be posted online. “What if the people in those pictures come across this video?” she asked.
Reactions poured in. Many called the act reckless and shameful — not just the alleged ritual itself, but the decision to film and broadcast it. Others questioned the values being passed to young people, asking how someone could treat such serious and illegal practices as content worth celebrating in public.
The video has surfaced at a time when the FBI has reportedly been in Nigeria to facilitate the extradition of alleged Yahoo boys found guilty of defrauding unsuspecting Americans. Yet some young men still appear unaware — or unbothered — by the gravity and consequences of their actions.
The decision to post the video also raises privacy and legal concerns. Having one’s image used in a ritual and shared online could expose the people in the photos to harm and further victimization.
What should never have been filmed in the first place is now circulating widely. Beyond the legal risk, there is the very real possibility that the people whose faces appear in those photos will one day see the same video.
