JUST IN: Akinyemi Oloyede Emerges APM Chairmanship Candidate for Kajola, Defeats Incumbent Mustapha

Akinyemi Oloyede has emerged as the chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, for Kajola Local Government Area ahead of the forthcoming 2026 Local Government Elections in Oyo State.

Oloyede secured the ticket on Sunday following a keenly contested election conducted by the party’s leadership and stakeholders in the local government. The process came after several attempts by leaders to adopt a consensus candidate failed to yield results.

About 15 party leaders participated as delegates in the election held in Kajola. 

At the end of voting, Oloyede polled a total of 10 votes to defeat the incumbent chairmanship hopeful, Hon. Akeem Mustapha, who garnered 3 votes while seeking re-election on the platform of the party. 

Hon. Kayode Ige and Hon. Robot Adeniyi also contested but secured one vote each.

The outcome of the ballot signaled a shift in the political dynamics within the APM in Kajola, as stakeholders opted for what many described as “new energy and fresh direction” for the party in the council.

Confirming the development, one of the voters who participated in the exercise commended the peaceful conduct of the election and praised Oloyede for his emergence.

“We congratulate Hon. Akinyemi Oloyede on this well-deserved victory. The process was transparent and the people have spoken. Going forward, everyone in Kajola Local Government will rally round him to ensure that APM records a resounding victory in the forthcoming local government election,” the party leader said.

Oloyede’s emergence is expected to reposition the APM in Kajola as the party intensifies preparations to mobilize grassroots support across the 10 wards of the local government ahead of the 2026 polls.
