Iseyin LG Chairman Fadiran Rasaq Emerges APM Consensus Candidate For 2026 Polls

The incumbent Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Fadiran Rasaq, has emerged as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2026 Local Government Election in Oyo State.

The decision was reached on Saturday, August 2, 2026, at a stakeholders’ meeting presided over by party leader, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha. Leaders from across the local government agreed to rally behind the incumbent in the interest of party unity.

Documents obtained by our correspondent showed that 15 stakeholders representing various blocs within the party attended the meeting.

Those present included Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Alhaji Muraina Siaba, Alhaji Mutiu Sikiru, Elder Gbola Adeleke, Hon. Adeola Bamidele, Alhaji Waheed Shittu and Mr. Nimiola Abideen.

According to the report, seven aspirants initially indicated interest in contesting for the party’s chairmanship ticket. Following extensive consultations, three aspirants voluntarily stepped down while the remaining stakeholders unanimously adopted Hon. Fadiran Rasaq as the consensus candidate.

The stakeholders said the decision was taken to sustain party cohesion and consolidate on the achievements of the current administration in Iseyin.

The resolution was endorsed by the signatures of stakeholders present. The Secretary of the Stakeholders, Mr. Adediran Kola, affirmed in the communiqué that Hon. Fadiran Rasaq had been unanimously adopted as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the 2026 election.

Reliable party sources said the consensus candidate has also been cleared by the APM leadership at the state level. An official announcement confirming his clearance is expected later on Sunday.

The development effectively ends speculation over the APM chairmanship ticket in Iseyin and positions the incumbent chairman to seek re-election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.
