…*Urges Unity, Says Winning is Key*
Ogbomoso-born politician and entrepreneur, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, has been unveiled as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State for the 2027 general elections.
His unveiling by Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, APM Governorship, drew a large turnout of people from the Ogbomoso zone, a demonstration of his wide acceptability.
The event, held on Wednesday at the APM Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan, was attended by PDP and APM leaders and members, as well as family, friends, and community leaders from Ogbomoso.
They described him as a credible candidate from the zone to complement APM governorship candidate Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and sustain the development drive of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omituntun 3.0 agenda.
Speaking after his presentation, Engr. Open Salawu urged APM members to set aside differences and unite for victory.
“Whatever we are doing, whatever our relationship, what is important in politics is winning. We have to win the next election; it is when we win that we can sit down and discuss positions. It is important to be in the house, rather than outside,” he said.
The former head of Oyo State’s project monitoring team said the Adekanmbi-Open Salawu ticket is ready for governance from day one.
He said: “We have had Omituntun 1.0 for accelerated development and Omituntun 2.0 for sustainable development. Omituntun 3.0 will be about continued development. Our team is loyal to Oyo State and understands what the people expect”.
Open Salawu however pledged to deploy his experience to work with Adekanmbi in sustaining Makinde’s development tempo, with priority on security, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, healthcare, quality education, and infrastructure.
“I accept to deputise Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and by God’s grace, together we will take Oyo State to greater heights. Together we shall all celebrate on May 29th, 2027,” he said.
Adekanmbi described Salawu as a thoroughbred engineer who supervised all key projects under the Makinde administration to standard. He said their ticket represents competence and continuity under Omituntun 3.0.
Oyo APM Chairman Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi and Oyo PDP Chairman Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro commended the PDP-APM coalition and urged members to back the ticket for victory in 2027.
