APC visits Oriire with branded campaign vehicles

A Federal Government delegation led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila visited Oriire Local Government Area on Saturday, two weeks after gunmen abducted pupils and teachers from two schools.

The visit to Esiele and Yawota communities comes after attackers stormed Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on May 15, abducting over 45 students, six teachers, and a principal.

Video circulating online showed an APC-branded campaign vehicle among the delegation’s convoy as it arrived in the area.

Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication Sunday Dare said President Bola Tinubu had “set in motion series of coordinated efforts to free the victims and arrest the kidnappers.”

In a post on X, Dare said the delegation included Ribadu, Gbajabiamila, Inspector-General of Police Tunde Disu, Defence Minister Christopher Musa, Power Minister Joseph Tegbe, and himself. He described it as a “powerful Presidential Delegation” that traveled to Ogbomoso en route to Esiele and Yawota, where “armed men simultaneously raided Baptist Nursery and Primary schools seizing about 46 pupils and teachers.”

The Federal Government visit came hours after Governor Seyi Makinde met with victims’ families in the community. Makinde said his administration would “take all the necessary steps within the law to secure their release from the terrorists’ den.”
