Osun APC Members Protest Against Automatic Ticket for Adeleke
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State staged a protest at the state party secretariat in Osogbo, rejecting plans to grant Governor Ademola Adeleke an automatic ticket as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2026 election.
The protesters carried placards and chanted slogans, arguing that Adeleke should contest for the ticket through a transparent process like other aspirants.
Taofeek Afolabi, a member of the APC youth leadership, stated, “We welcome Gov. Adeleke if he wants to join our party, but he should not be given an automatic ticket. He should queue like every other aspirant.” Other protesters shared similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent process.
A party executive expressed surprise at the demonstration, stating that the party leadership was not aware of the protest and that it may give the wrong impression.
The protest lasted several hours before the protesters dispersed peacefully. The party leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the protest or the alleged plans to grant Adeleke an automatic ticket.
