2027: Tinubu’s Camp Unveils ‘WE ARE MAD’ Slogan
President Bola Tinubu’s camp has introduced the slogan “WE ARE MAD” as part of efforts to rally support for his expected re-election bid in 2027, turning a comment associated with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, into a political message.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, shared a campaign-style poster on X on Sunday, presenting the word “MAD” as an acronym for “Motivated, Assured, Determined.”
The message appears to be a response to Amaechi’s use of the phrase “mad people” in reference to supporters of the president.
Rather than reject the description, Tinubu’s supporters have adopted the word and given it a different meaning to communicate their commitment to his political cause.
The poster explains the three words behind the slogan. “Motivated” is described as being driven by purpose and passion, while “Assured” represents confidence in the group’s vision and victory. “Determined” is presented as a commitment to remain focused, resolute and unstoppable.
Onanuga accompanied the graphic with a direct reference to Amaechi, writing: “Rotimi Amaechi: Yes, we, the followers and supporters of President Tinubu, are truly MAD. Read why we are.”
The post has drawn reactions from supporters who have embraced the acronym and used it to express their loyalty to Tinubu.
Some responded with the phrase “Yes o! We are M.A.D,” echoing the slogan and reinforcing its intended political message.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, has remained a notable voice in discussions about the country’s political direction.
His past roles include serving as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammuh Buhari and as a leading member of the All Progressives Congress before his political differences with the party’s leadership and his participation in the 2022 presidential primary.
The adoption of the word “MAD” gives Tinubu’s camp an opportunity to respond without engaging in a lengthy argument over the original description.
The slogan is also designed to be easily repeated online, with its three-word message adaptable for social media posts, graphics and other forms of political communication.
However, the introduction of the slogan does not, on its own, establish the scale of support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
