The member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has facilitated the construction of four public toilet facilities across the constituency as part of efforts to improve sanitation, public health and wellbeing.
The facilities are located at Agbojobi family compound, Idi-Arere, Ward 2, Ibadan South-East LGA; Eyinni High School, Orita Challenge, Ward 12, Ibadan South-East; Elekunkun-Atipe Road, Ward 7, Ibadan North-East; and Agodi Gate, Oke-Adu, Ward 12, Ibadan North-East.
The projects are distributed equally between the two local government areas, with two facilities in each.
One of the facilities, located within Gate Araromi Market in Ward 12, Ibadan North-East, was the first to be commissioned by the APM Chairman in Ibadan North-East LGA, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun (Baba Abuye).
The second, a three-unit toilet facility at Eyinni High School, Orita Challenge, Ward 12, Ibadan South-East, was commissioned on Tuesday, October 27, by the Chairmanship candidate of South-East LGA, Hon. Saheed Owonifaari, who commended Agboworin for the intervention and his commitment to improving public infrastructure.
Similarly, during a ward tour ahead of the forthcoming election, the lawmaker commissioned another facility at Agbojobi family compound, Idi-Arere, Ward 2, Ibadan South-East.
The last facility, situated along Elekunkun-Atipe Road in Ibadan North-East, will be commissioned soon.
At the commissioning, Agboworin described the provision as a demonstration of his commitment to grassroots development, noting that adequate sanitation infrastructure is essential to the health and comfort of residents.
He added that effective representation extends beyond legislative debates to practical projects that directly address everyday needs.
“As a lawmaker who grew up in this environment, I understand the needs of my constituents. This toilet facility may appear modest to some people, but its importance to the residents cannot be overemphasised.
“Providing a decent sanitation facility is an investment in the health, dignity and welfare of our children. It is a demonstration of responsible representation and a clear indication that I am concerned about the everyday challenges confronting the people I represent,” he said.
The lawmaker urged community members to take proper care of the facilities to ensure sustainability.
He also used the occasion to canvass support for Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and other candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the forthcoming elections, urging eligible voters to support the party’s candidates and sustain development initiatives across the state.
The provision of the four public toilets represents an intervention in sanitation infrastructure across the two LGAs, intended to serve residents and users of the respective locations.
