Sanjo Adedoyin Lauds Makinde On Workers’ Wage Award Renewal, Key Appointments In Ogbomoso Zone

The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for renewing the wage award for civil servants and restoring the transportation subsidy.

The lawmaker also lauded the Governor for his timely appointment of sons and daughters of Ogbomoso zone into several key positions.

It would be recalled that Governor Makinde had on Friday announced that the wage award for state workers would be extended for another three months, while the transportation subsidy introduced to cushion the effect of rising transportation costs would also continue.

In a similar development, the Governor announced the appointments of notable individuals from Ogbomoso zone, including Hon. Ezekiel Oyedepo, Engr. Abu Salami and Chief (Mrs) Lydia Bankole as members of the Advisory Council, while Hon. Kunle Bankole was appointed Chairman of the Hospital Management Board and Oluwaseun Laurel was elevated to the position of Chairman, Project Monitoring Agency, following the resignation of the APM Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Open Salawu.

Reacting to the development on Saturday, Hon. Adedoyin described the wage award renewal as a timely and compassionate intervention, particularly at a time when workers and families are contending with rising cost of living.

According to him, the continuation of the wage award and transport support demonstrates that the Makinde administration remains sensitive to the economic realities facing workers and is willing to deploy government resources to cushion their burden.

He noted that the measures would provide significant relief to civil servants, especially in view of the rising cost of transportation and its ripple effects on household expenses.

The lawmaker added that the Governor’s ability to respond to economic pressures with targeted interventions shows that government can make a meaningful difference when the welfare of citizens remains at the centre of policymaking.

He, however, urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by remaining committed to their duties and ensuring efficient service delivery to the people of Oyo State.

Adedoyin, who represents Ogbomoso South State Constituency and is seeking a third-term re-election, equally commended Governor Makinde for entrusting people from Ogbomoso zone with key roles, expressing confidence that they will justify the confidence reposed in them.

He said the appointments are a clear indication that Governor Makinde values the contributions of Ogbomoso zone to the development of Oyo State and is committed to inclusive governance where every zone is carried along.

He assured that as the Leader of the House, he will continue to work with the executive to ensure that more dividends of democracy get to Ogbomoso zone, and pledged the unalloyed loyalty and support of the people of Ogbomoso South to the Makinde administration beyond 2027.
