NRS Training Institute: Outrage in Ogbomoso As Residents Accuse Zacch Adedeji of Diverting Project To Oyo

Outrage has erupted in Ogbomoso following a protest by residents over the decision of the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, to move the NRS Training Institute earlier proposed to be sited in Ogbomoso to Oyo town.

The protesters, comprising youths, elders and concerned stakeholders, trooped out in large numbers on Saturday, carrying placards and demanding explanations over what they described as a betrayal of trust.

According to community sources, the NRS Training Institute was initially proposed to be located in Ogbomoso in honour of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, considering Dr. Adedeji’s claim of Ogbomoso origin and the need to bring federal presence to the zone. To their shock, the project was later moved to Oyo town without justification.

The development, residents said, has vindicated their long-held suspicion.

“Now we have been vindicated that he and his younger brother, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, are not truly from Ogbomoso,” one of the protest leaders declared.

“If they were genuine sons of Ogbomoso, they would have ensured that such a landmark institute came to Ogbomoso to create jobs and opportunities for our people. Taking it to Oyo town shows where their loyalty lies.”

The residents accused the Adedeji brothers of identifying with Ogbomoso only when it is politically convenient, while working against the interest and development of the town.

They called on the Federal Government to review the siting of the institute and ensure Ogbomoso is not shortchanged, while urging well-meaning sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to speak up against the injustice.

Efforts to get reactions from Dr. Zacch Adedeji and Hon. Adesoji Adedeji as of press time were unsuccessful.
