Irepo LG: Oyo Deputy Gov Commissions Amotekun Outpost In Sabon Gari Madina

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has commissioned an Amotekun outpost built by the Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. Tunde Taoheed Olayiwola, also known as TT, in Sabon Gari Madina, on the outskirts of Oyo State.

Speaking during the commissioning on Sunday, the deputy governor said Amotekun remains a key pillar in the security architecture of Oyo State.

He commended security operatives in the state, noting that the outpost will strengthen security in the community. He called on stakeholders to support the Amotekun personnel to be deployed to the outpost.

While urging residents to say something when they see something, Barr. Lawal noted that the Amotekun outpost is the first of its kind in the community and assured that other outposts, including police and army outposts, are underway.

According to him, more development opportunities await Kishi community, and continuity of the Omituntun 3.0 administration will further enhance security in Sabon Gari Madina, which shares a border with Kaiama Local Government in Kwara State.

The deputy governor noted that the road to Sabon Gari Madina is a federal road, adding that with support for Omituntun 3.0, the community will also benefit from road infrastructure, as the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has constructed several roads linking Oke-Ogun and other zones in the state.

He added that more soldiers and security operatives will be deployed to Kishi to strengthen security in the area.

Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. TT Olayiwola, while welcoming the deputy governor and other dignitaries to the commissioning, described it as historic.

He said: “It is with great joy, gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility that I welcome Your Excellency, our father, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Alh. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Her Excellency, Yeye Ajibike Lawal, the Honourable Commissioner, distinguished guests, community leaders and the good people of Irepo Local Government to this historic occasion marking the official commissioning of these important development projects.

“Our administration is committed to delivering meaningful and sustainable dividends of democracy to the people of Irepo Local Government. We firmly believe that government must not only exist in offices but must be felt in communities.

*Distinguished guests, security remains one of the fundamental requirements for meaningful development. No community can achieve its full economic and social potential in an atmosphere of insecurity.

“It is against this background that our administration embarked on the construction of the Amotekun Security Post at Sabon Gari Madina, Irepo Local Government, Kishi.

“The project is intended to strengthen the presence of security personnel within the community, improve rapid response to security challenges and enhance the protection of lives and property.

“Similarly, we are pleased to commission the renovated Police Post at Adagbangba Village, Irepo Local Government, Kishi.

“The renovation is part of our efforts to support security agencies with a more conducive working environment from which they can effectively discharge their responsibilities.

“We recognize that security is a collective responsibility. Therefore, our administration will continue to collaborate with the Oyo State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents to promote peace and security throughout Irepo Local Government.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, education remains one of the strongest foundations upon which the future of our society is built. As a government, we understand that providing quality education requires not only qualified teachers and effective learning programmes but also safe and conducive learning environments.

“It is therefore my pleasure to present the new block of three classrooms at Kraal, Kishi, constructed as an Education Intervention Project.

“This project is a demonstration of our commitment to improving access to quality education and providing our children with facilities that will encourage effective teaching and learning.

“We are equally delighted to commission another block of three classrooms at Budonla Area, Irepo Local Government, Kishi.

“These classroom projects are investments in our children and in the future of Irepo Local Government. Every classroom constructed today represents an opportunity to educate, empower and prepare another generation for responsible citizenship and leadership.”

“At this juncture, I wish to sincerely appreciate the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Abiodun Makinde, for his administration’s continued support for development at the grassroots.

“I also express our profound appreciation to our distinguished Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Alh. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, for honouring our invitation to commission these projects.

“Your Excellency, your presence here today is a source of encouragement to us and to the people of Irepo Local Government.

“I also appreciate members of the Local Government Legislative Council, the HLGA and Heads of Departments, community leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies and all members of staff who contributed to the successful completion of these projects.

“The commissioning of these projects should not be regarded as the conclusion of our development efforts. Rather, it is another step in our continuous journey towards building a more secure, educated, prosperous and inclusive Irepo Local Government.

“We shall continue to identify the needs of our communities and channel available resources towards projects that have direct and lasting impact on the people.

“I therefore appeal to the benefiting communities to take ownership of these facilities, protect them from vandalism and ensure that they are maintained for the benefit of present and future generations.

“Today we celebrate not merely buildings and physical structures, but the opportunities, security and hope that these projects represent.

“May these projects serve the people effectively, strengthen our communities, improve the quality of education of our children and contribute to the peace and development of Irepo Local Government.”

On the deputy governor’s entourage were the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prof. Soliu Adelabu; the APM House of Representatives candidate for Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, Abiodun Oni; and other government functionaries.
