Agboworin Applauds Mass Defection To APM, Says Makinde’s Leadership Attracting More Support

The member representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, on Monday applauded the mass defection of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).

Agboworin described the development as a reflection of growing confidence in the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He spoke at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Open Tennis Court of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where thousands of APC members formally joined the APM.

The defectors, drawn from different local government areas across the state, were led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, a personal assistant and loyalist to former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

Agboworin, who attended the event alongside other leaders and candidates of the APM, said the defection demonstrated the growing acceptance of the party across the state.

He said the decision to join the APM showed that political support was increasingly being driven by leadership, performance and the desire for continuity of development in Oyo State.

According to him, Governor Makinde’s leadership has continued to attract people from across political divides, noting that the defection further strengthens the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Today’s gathering is significant because it shows that people are looking beyond party labels and paying attention to leadership and what government is doing for the people.

“The movement of thousands of APC members into the APM is a strong indication that more people are identifying with the direction of Governor Seyi Makinde and the vision of our party.

“Makinde’s leadership is attracting more support for the party and we welcome everyone who believes in the progress and development of Oyo State,” Agboworin said.

The lawmaker congratulated the new members, assuring them they would be received as partners in the collective effort to move Oyo State forward.

He also called for unity among party members and urged stakeholders to remain focused on service to the people.

The event, themed “Young, United, Unstoppable (YUU)”, featured performances by Fuji stars including Alhaji Taye Currency, Alhaji Tiri Leather, Babatunmise, Ododo Emi, Ajao Samson Ajeseun Band and Aare Rasaq Ayanfe, among others.

It was attended by senior government officials, APM leaders, serving members of the National Assembly and Oyo State House of Assembly, commissioners, party candidates and other stakeholders.
