Addressing journalists after the visit, Princess Nurudeen said the endorsement was a collective decision by market stakeholders in support of continuity in people-centered governance.
“Our endorsement is not for personal gain or political patronage. We are supporting Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi because we believe he has the capacity to sustain good governance, promote equity, strengthen democracy and run an all-inclusive administration that will benefit every citizen of Oyo State,” she said.
She added that Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure, governance and citizens’ welfare informed the delegation’s decision to back Adekanmbi as the candidate to advance the state’s development agenda.
In his response, Hon. Adekanmbi described the turnout as proof of confidence in his candidacy and the APM’s vision for Oyo State.
“I am deeply honoured by this overwhelming show of confidence. This is more than an endorsement; it is a call to greater service. I am on a mission to build an all-inclusive government under our continuity agenda, Omituntun 3.0, where every voice matters and every citizen has a sense of belonging,” he said.
Adekanmbi assured the delegation that his administration would remain accessible to all stakeholders.
“My doors will always remain open, and my ears will always be ready to listen. Together, we will build a more prosperous, peaceful and inclusive Oyo State,” he said.
The meeting ended with the market leaders pledging to mobilize traders and artisans across the state for APM. Both the delegation and Adekanmbi also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership and developmental strides.
The endorsement by the coalition of market stakeholders from Ibadan, Oyo, Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa and Ogbomosho zones is expected to give a significant boost to Adekanmbi’s campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
