Katsina Govt Denies Sponsoring Hajj for Bandit Leaders, Calls Claim ‘Baseless’

The Katsina State Government has dismissed claims that it spent N10 million to sponsor bandit leaders on Hajj, describing the allegation as false and politically motivated.

Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. Nasir Mua’azu said in a statement that the report was “entirely untrue and does not reflect reality.”

The government said the allegation, made by Bashir Kurfi during a Trust TV program, was a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and undermine public confidence in its fight against insecurity.

“The allegation is entirely baseless, unfounded, and devoid of any factual basis,” the statement said.

Officials said the claim surfaced as security operations record progress against banditry in parts of the state. They accused some actors of exploiting security concerns for political gain and refusing to back “questionable arrangements” that could divert public funds.

The government challenged accusers to present credible evidence and warned that spreading false information could attract legal consequences.

Mua’azu urged residents to ignore the claim and continue supporting security agencies. He said the administration remains focused on protecting lives and property while improving welfare and safety.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with security operatives to ensure lasting peace in affected communities.
