*Ibadan Indigenes Warn Fayose Over Olubadan Comments, Say ‘He Can’t Set Ibadan on Fire’*

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, has warned former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose to stop dragging the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, into partisan politics.

CCII Publicity Secretary Kola Olomide said in a statement Tuesday that Fayose’s recent comments about the monarch were “highly provocative and unreasonable.”

The council said it had earlier cautioned Fayose against involving the Olubadan in political disputes, warning that such attempts were disrespectful and could create avoidable tension.

CCII President-General Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole expressed disappointment over Fayose’s remarks on Channels Television’s _Politics Today_ with Seun Okinbaloye.

During the interview, Fayose accused Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde of dismantling his PDP structure in the South West. He also claimed the support of “influential figures in Ibadan,” adding: “The current Olubadan was a colleague. We are all working together, including the Olubadan, including all Makinde’s enemies.”

Reacting, Ajewole said Fayose had ignored CCII’s warning by attempting to drag the revered monarch into partisan politics.

“The comments credited to former Governor Ayodele Fayose are highly provocative and unreasonable. They are capable of creating a wrong impression about the Olubadan institution and unnecessarily heating up the political atmosphere,” Ajewole said.
