Iran Signs Deal for 20 Russian Helicopters Days After U.S. Peace Announcement

Iran’s Red Crescent Society has signed a contract to purchase 20 Russian helicopters, days after Tehran announced a peace deal with the United States.

Semi-official ISNA news agency reported Wednesday that the agreement was signed between the head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society and the chief executive of Russian Helicopters.

The helicopters will be equipped with advanced navigation systems and night-vision cameras for Iran’s “logistics and aerial rescue fleet,” ISNA said.

The deal comes as Iran begins pursuing new business agreements with Russia and rebuilding its aircraft fleet.
