*Students of Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology Visit Fasola ATC, Commend Makinde’s Agribusiness Drive*
*Fasola, Oyo State* — Students of the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology, New Bussa, visited the Fasola Agribusiness Transformation Centre (ATC) Industrial Hub on Monday, May 11, 2026, where they commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership and the work of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA).
The delegation, led by lecturers and institutional representatives, said the hub demonstrated a practical model for agricultural industrialisation, youth empowerment, food security, and economic development.
During the tour, the students were introduced to modern agribusiness practices, processing facilities, and investment opportunities within the Fasola ecosystem. They noted that the level of innovation and infrastructure at the hub reflects the Oyo State government’s commitment to creating sustainable economic opportunities through agriculture and industrialisation.
Speaking at the engagement, OYSADA Director-General Dr. Debo Akande, DBA, CMGR, FCMI, attributed the hub’s success to Governor Makinde’s political will and commitment to creating an enabling environment for agribusiness. He said the governor’s vision had attracted local and international investors, with more firms signing up for space within the industrial hub.
Dr. Akande urged the students to become practical ambassadors of agribusiness by embracing innovation, entrepreneurship, and value-chain development. He encouraged them to view agriculture beyond subsistence and position themselves as future drivers of agro-industrial transformation.
He also acknowledged a recent tourism tour by participants of ITS Oyo State 2026 to the hub, saying such exposure would further project Oyo State as a leading destination for agribusiness, investment, innovation, and industrial tourism in Africa.
The visit ended with students describing the experience as enlightening and inspiring, and calling on other states and institutions to emulate the model.
Dr. Debo Akande serves as the Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and International Cooperation Development, and is the Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency
