Oke Legacy Condemns Oriire School Attack, Commiserates With Victims’ Families, Oyo Govt

House of Representatives aspirant for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. John Adisa Oke, popularly known as Oke Legacy, has condemned Friday’s bandit attack on schools in Oko-Ile, Oriire Local Government Area, calling for urgent steps to secure schools and rural communities in Oyo State.

The attack targeted Baptist Primary School, Yawota, and Community High School, Esin-Ele. Reports indicate that several students and a school principal were abducted, leaving residents of the area gripped by fear.

However, in a statement on Saturday, Oke Legacy described the incident as painful and unacceptable. He extended condolences to the victims’ families, the people of Oko-Ile, and the wider Oriire LGA, while also sympathizing with the Oyo State government.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families. I pray for the immediate and safe release of all those abducted,” he said.

While expressing confidence in the Oyo State government’s efforts to bolster security in Oriire and neighboring areas, he said the broader security situation in the country had deteriorated under the Tinubu administration.

He noted that Oriire, Oyo’s largest LGA by landmass, needs a stronger security footprint, including increased personnel, intelligence gathering, surveillance, and regular patrols to cover its vast communities.

Oke Legacy urged priority protection for schools and rural settlements, warning that repeated attacks on learning centers threaten the education and future of young people.

He called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could aid rescue operations and the arrest of the attackers. He also prayed for divine protection for the people of Oriire and for the safe return of all those abducted.
