Ogbomoso North LG Chairman Condemns Oriire Abductions, Backs Makinde’s Security Response
The Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Hon. George Ogunlade, has condemned the recent abduction of pupils and residents in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the incident as painful, disturbing, and a threat to the peace and safety of innocent citizens.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ogunlade expressed heartfelt sympathy to the victims, their families, and the entire Oriire community.
He prayed for the safe return and quick reunification of all those abducted with their loved ones.
Hon. George Ogunlade commended Governor Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Government, and security agencies for their prompt intervention and coordinated response to the crisis.
According to him, the swift actions demonstrate responsible leadership and a strong commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
Ogunlade urged security agencies to intensify ongoing rescue operations and strengthen surveillance around vulnerable communities and schools to prevent a recurrence.
He also called on the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and relevant authorities to support Oyo government in accelerating efforts to rescue the abducted students and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.
The chairman however stressed that collective vigilance and timely information sharing are critical in combating insecurity, and urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security operatives.
He further urged all levels of government to bolster security architecture around schools and at-risk communities, and to improve intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms.
Hon. George reaffirmed his support for all initiatives aimed at safeguarding communities and educational institutions, adding that he would continue to work to strengthen the security framework of Governor Makinde’s administration, particularly within Ogbomoso North.
