Mechatronics engineering embarks on 205km ‘ride for greatness’ to honor Shina Peller at 50
In an extraordinary display of physical endurance and personal tribute, Mechatronics Engineer and celebrated cyclist Roidfaj, popularly known as “The Bicycle Boi,” has commenced a grueling 205-kilometer solo bicycle trek from Ikorodu, Lagos State, to Iseyin, Oyo State.
The journey, tagged the “Ride for Greatness,” was launched on Wednesday morning as a special tribute to mark the 50th birthday of renowned philanthropist and leader, Hon. Shina Peller.
The ambitious mission, which carries the theme “One Ride, One Purpose, One Celebration,” marks a significant scale-up from the cyclist’s original itinerary.
In a video update released from his base before departure, Roidfaj revealed that he had initially planned a modest 50-kilometer ride to Maryland. However, upon discovering a scheduled prayer session for the celebrant in Iseyin, he felt compelled to extend the tribute to Hon. Peller’s hometown.
“I felt like, instead of doing Maryland, let me go to Oyo State,” Roidfaj stated, radiating optimism despite the daunting task ahead. “Hon. Shina Peller really deserves more than this. This is my first time going through that route to Iseyin, but I am happy to announce that I will be riding all the way.”
The 205-kilometer “one-way” expedition is a test of both mental and physical fortitude. To navigate the intense heat and distance, the engineer has adopted a strategic two-day approach. He aims to cover a massive 150 kilometers on the first leg of the journey, leaving the final stretch for Thursday morning.
This schedule is intended to ensure his arrival at the Queen Event Place in Iseyin coincides with the 11:00 AM milestone prayer session organized for the “Kingmaker.”
The Bicycle Boi” is documented under the hashtags #GivingWithShinaPeller and #ShinaPellerAt50. The event has quickly captured the attention of the cycling community and political admirers alike, who view the trek as a symbolic “fearless journey to greatness” that mirrors the life and impact of the celebrant.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the ride manager confirmed that Roidfaj is making steady progress toward the Oyo State border. The cyclist has vowed to provide regular updates to his followers, promising to let the journey “unfold for itself” as he honors a man he describes as a legend and an inspiration to the younger generation.
