Barrister Olasunkanmi Courts Oyo Central PDP Leaders, Vows to Reward Party Loyalists

In a continuation of his consultation meetings with key stakeholders and elders of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo Central Senatorial District, Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi, the Oyo Central Senatorial hopeful and Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, convened with party leaders, elders, and stakeholders from the eleven local government areas of the senatorial district on Sunday.

The meeting took place at the Ikolaba residence of Elder Wole Oyelese.

While welcoming Barrister Olasunkanmi and his team, Elder Wole Oyelese acknowledged that while the party is not in the opposition in Oyo State, it currently lacks senators in the Senate.

He emphasized the long road ahead for the party and advised Barrister Olasunkanmi to remain accessible to the people whose support he seeks if elected.

Elder Oyelese urged that the reward for ordinary party members should be treated as non-negotiable and sacrosanct, marking the end of the zero-reward system.

Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, the State Financial Secretary of the Party, reiterated his previous stance, describing Barrister Olasunkanmi as a complete gentleman who is accessible to party members and a staunch supporter of the Party.

He highlighted Barrister Olaleye’s significant contributions to securing and making habitable the Oyo Central Senatorial District office.

Alhaji Ademola Mukaila from Oluyole local government noted the considerable task of becoming a senator, which requires a planned and sustained effort.

Drawing on his experience as a commissioner in five different ministries, he encouraged Barrister Olasunkanmi to leverage his expertise to foster development in the Oyo Central Senatorial District.

The State Organising Secretary of the Party, Alhaja Wulemotu Ibitoye, echoed Elder Oyelese’s earlier statement, advocating for fair rewards for party members who work and deserve to benefit from their efforts.

She also vouched for Barrister Olasunkanmi’s accessibility to the people.

Alhaji Kolawole Ibrahim from Egbeda Local Government challenged the public servant to list his achievements across the eleven local governments, given his extensive experience in various critical ministries within the Seyi Makinde-led administration.

Hon. Oladejo Success from Lagelu Local Government praised Barrister Olaleye’s leadership and integrity, citing their positive interactions during the last election and expressing confidence in his commitment to the people.

He also emphasized the need for the necessary resources, comparing the Oyo Central senatorial District election to the State governorship elections.

In response to questions, Barrister Olaleye outlined several projects he has undertaken across the 11 local government areas in Oyo Central Senatorial District. These included the facilitation of the RAAMP road project in Oluyole Local Government, Ijaiye-Ido in Akinyele Local Government, the Agrologistics Centre/Market in Onaara Local Government, road construction in Lagelu and Egbeda Local Governments, and others.

Additional projects mentioned were the facilitation of youth training in tractor mechanization and operations, as well as the distribution of farm inputs to farmers across the State.

Barrister Olaleye assured the stakeholders that he is well-prepared to run the election smoothly and will ensure that party members are adequately compensated.

Concluding the meeting, Elder Wole Oyelese, Co-chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council, commended Barrister Olaleye Olasunkanmi for his outstanding contributions to the party. He noted the positive feedback he received from people regarding the meeting.

He also stated that one of Nigeria’s challenges is electing individuals without the necessary experience for leadership positions, but Barrister Olaleye has demonstrated that he is the right person for the job.

In the vote of thanks, Hon. Adegbite Isaiah Alaba, the Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, expressed gratitude to the stakeholders and leaders present at the meeting for their warm reception.
