Oyo Deputy Governor Attends Adedibu’s Ramadan Lecture and Fidau Prayer

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, on Sunday attended the 2026 Annual Ramadan Lecture organized in honor of the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and prominent Ibadan political figure, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, held at his residence in Molete, Ibadan. 

The event, which also featured a special Fidau prayer for the late Adedibu, was hosted by his wife, Alhaja Chief (Mrs) Modinat Abosede Adedibu, alongside Alhaji Nureni Akanbi and Prof. Abass Aderemi Adedibu. 

Several notable politicians and government functionaries were in attendance, including the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Muhammed Fadeyi; Alhaji Nureni Akanbi; member of the PDP representing Ibadan South-East I Constituency, Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Lawore; YK Abass; Babaloja of Oyo State; and many others.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor, Barr Lawal noted that the late Adedibu passed away about 17 years ago and commended his wife for consistently organizing a special prayer in his honor. 

He described Ramadan as a sacred month when Allah forgives sins and prayed that Allah grants everyone rewards and Aljannah Firdaus.

The Deputy Governor, who specifically praised Alhaja Bose Adedibu for her commitment and financial dedication to sustaining the annual lecture, stated that the late Adedibu “left behind good people who continue to honor his legacy.

He prayed that Allah accepts the Ramadan lecture as an act of worship.

He also highlighted that the current administration, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, promotes religious tolerance, which has contributed to peaceful coexistence in the state. 

He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the late Adedibu’s shortcomings and pray Allah grant him Aljanat Firdaos.

The Guest lecturer, Sheikh Buhari Omo Musa, during his lecture, commended the Deputy Governor for his contributions to Islam in Oyo State, describing him as “a pride of Islam.

He also lauded Governor Makinde’s developmental efforts, particularly in rebuilding shops for traders affected by fire incidents and ensuring they retain ownership after rehabilitation.

Sheikh Musa, who spoke on the topic “Importance and Benefits of Ramadan,” emphasized that Ramadan is a period of absolute obedience to Allah, not a time for bad deeds or social vices. 

He urged Muslims to observe the five daily prayers, fast during Ramadan, and uphold the five pillars of Islam. 

The cleric however described the late Adedibu as a man of good deeds who positively impacted many lives.

He further stated that the world is full of deception and challenges, maintaining that Ramadan offers forgiveness and abundant blessings from Allah. 

He reminded attendees that fasting is compulsory for all Muslims, except for those with valid exemptions, and encouraged people to use the holy month to draw closer to Allah, give alms, and perform good deeds.
