Oloye Adegboyega resigns from PDP, may defect to ADC for Governorship

Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, a prominent Ibadan chief and philanthropist, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), causing a stir in Oyo State’s political scene.

In a resignation letter dated March 2, 2026, and addressed to the Ward 10 Chairman of the party in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, Adegoke cited “intractable political crisis and problems” within the party as the primary reason for his departure.

The letter stated that these internal issues could jeopardize the political aspirations of many loyal members, leading to his immediate resignation.

Despite his exit, Adegoke thanked party members in Ward 10 for their support.

Political analysts however suggest that Adegoke’s departure could significantly alter the state’s political landscape, given his influence as the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, a respected business leader, and chairman of Solutions 93.9 FM in Ibadan.

His resignation has fueled speculation about his next political move, with many wondering if he will join another party before future elections.

As at the time of filling this report, the PDP leadership in Oyo State has not yet released an official statement.

Observers believe this move may trigger new political realignments as stakeholders await Adegoke’s next step. However, some have suggested that he may be joining Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) to contest for governorship election.
