Rivers: Governor Fubara Warns Chief of Staff, Other Appointees Against Secret Meetings

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and other appointees, cautioning them against holding secret meetings without his permission.

Speaking on Thursday after announcing the appointments, Governor Fubara emphasized that their primary responsibility is to ensure that official assignments are handled efficiently and with integrity.

“For the Chief of Staff — Rivers Government House, you are working under me. In this position, you are my personal aide. It’s not a position where, as you leave here now, you start holding meetings or calling people without my permission,” the governor said.

He added, “Let me sound it here very clearly: your activity is to make sure administratively, image-making, and liaising with anyone coming for any official assignment here is handled very well. If you involve yourself with nocturnal meetings and all that, I will sack you. I am very serious!”

Governor Fubara stressed that his priority remains peace, progress, and prosperity in Rivers State, and he will not compromise on that. He warned that any actions resulting in embarrassment to his government or person would attract “adequate punishment.”

“I will not let anything go this time. I will be watching everyone,” he concluded.
