Bisi Oluranti Condemns Killing of National Park Guards
Oyo State lawmaker, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Micheal, representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, has condemned the recent killing of forest guards by suspected bandits in Oloka Village, Ikoyi Local Government Area.
The attack on Tuesday night resulted in five casualties and an undisclosed number of injured officers.
In a statement released on Friday, Hon. Bisi Oluranti expressed deep concern over the attack, describing it a painful loss for the families and the state.
She extended her condolences to Hon. Sunday Ogundele, representing Oriire state constituency, Baale of Oloka, community residents, and the families of the slain forest guards, praying for their comfort and strength during this difficult time.
The lawmaker urged collaboration between security agencies, local communities, and stakeholders to prevent criminal infiltration into the area and forest reserves.
She also called on governments and security agencies to take action, stressing that the Southwest should not become a killing ground for bandits and terrorists.
“I received the news with shock. The bandit attack on forest guards is barbaric and unfortunate. We cannot allow our zone to become a killing field where bandits and terrorists freely carry out their evil agenda of killing, abducting people for ransom, and destroying property, thus creating an atmosphere of fear. Therefore, we call on governments to implement urgent measures to stop this,” she said.
