Oyo Majority Leader Urges Faster Road Works and Enhanced Security in Ogbomoso Under New Budget
The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has disclosed that the 2026 Appropriation Bill—titled the _Budget of Economic Expansion_—presented to the House on Monday will build on the gains of the 2025 _Budget of Economic Stabilisation_ to further grow the Oyo State economy.
In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmaker representing Ogbomoso South State Constituency said the total budget, amounting to ₦891,985,074,480.79, will allocate the highest share to infrastructural expansion, followed by education, health and agriculture, in that order.
He said: “While leading the debate on behalf of my colleagues from the Ogbomoso zone during the budget presentation, I thanked His Excellency for his commitment to rehabilitating inner roads in Ogbomoso. Twenty‑one roads in our town have been earmarked for total rehabilitation/reconstruction, and I raised with him the delays being experienced in the execution of the project.
“I also appealed to His Excellency to graciously extend the construction and rehabilitation to other parts of the town—in Oriire, Surulere and Ogooluwa local government areas.
“Furthermore, I urged the governor to consider establishing an international market within the Ogbomoso zone, primarily for the buying, selling and packaging of cashew nuts. This would eliminate the exploitation of farmers, create jobs for our youth, add value to the product, attract people of diverse backgrounds to our community, and generate additional revenue for the state.
“I also highlighted the unpalatable security situation around LAUTECH and its neighbourhood, occasioned by frequent attacks on students and other residents by criminal elements. I appealed to His Excellency to deploy more security personnel to the Under‑G area.
“In response, His Excellency said he has been consulting cashew merchants on how to add more value to the cashew business in our state. Regarding the delay in commencing the reconstruction of our inner roads, he attributed it to procedural processes and assured that the matter is receiving due attention, announcing that construction will start within the next two weeks.
“May the Lord bless and protect our dear governor, our town Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.”
