Security is the bedrock of good living, says Oyo Deputy Gov
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to development, emphasizing that security is paramount to achieving this goal.
He stated this on Monday at the stakeholders’ consultative and engagement meeting on the 2026 budget for Oyo State, held at the Saki Town Hall.
According to Barr. Lawal, “Security is the bedrock of good living, and the government will continue to ensure that Oyo State is adequately secured.”
Noting that bandits sees forest reserves as a safe haven, the Deputy Governor urged the local government council chairmen in the Oke-Ogun zone to collaborate with the state government to frustrate their terror act.
He disclosed that the state government has procured an aircraft for surveillance and has recruited Amotekun personnel to ensure peace in the state.
He also highlighted ongoing projects in the zone, including the Tede to Saki road and the upcoming construction of the Igboho-Kishi road.
On environmental sanitation, Barr. Lawal assured that the government would provide refuse trucks to affected areas and install solar lights in strategic locations across each local government, ensuring a safe and well-lit environment for residents.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that teachers transferred to the zone would not be re-transferred again until after five years, except on health or other grounds.
He, however, assured that all demands at the meeting would be put into consideration in the 2026 budget.
The stakeholders, including community leaders, traditional leaders, and others, had urged the government to prioritize the construction of inner roads and township roads in the Oke-Ogun zone, as well as environmental sanitation and vaccination of children.
They commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his efforts in enhancing the development of the Oke-Ogun zone.
Following the stakeholders engagement, the Deputy Governor equally met with PDP stakeholders of Saki Local Government, commending Governor Makinde’s leadership and good governance.
He reiterated the Governor’s commitment to uniting and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 election.
