Hundreds Defect to PDP in Surulere as Party Holds Inaugural Meeting
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Surulere Local Government on Thursday held its inaugural general meeting following the recent congress at the local government secretariat.
Led by Chairman Hon. Okesanjo Adeeyo, the meeting drew a large turnout, featuring the inauguration of party executives at ward and local levels.

Alhaji Maruff Gbadamosi, in his address, charged the newly sworn-in executives to run a transparent and inclusive administration, emphasizing that their role is crucial in delivering a successful general election.
He stressed the importance of unity and giving all party leaders a sense of belonging.
Other key leaders who addressed the gathering included Hon. Rafiu Oyenibi, Hon. Sarafadeen Muhammed, and Hon. Sulaiman Ibrahim. In their separate remarks, they emphasized the importance of unity within the party, urging members to view themselves as one entity.

They advised party members to respect and embrace all leaders, fostering a sense of freedom and camaraderie within the party.
Also speaking, Hon. Rasaq Mustapha provided insight into the party’s executive formation process, revealing that the executives at both ward and local levels were evenly distributed among leaders. He noted that after the meeting that produced the executives, party leaders individually signed in support of the new team.

Hon. Mustapha however appealed to any aggrieved leaders to prioritize peace, acknowledging that perfection comes from God, and urged them to rally behind a united party.
In his address, the PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Okesanjo Adeeyo, expressed gratitude to leaders and members for their unwavering support and commitment.

He pledged to run a transparent and inclusive administration, emphasizing that his goal is to ensure the party’s success in the forthcoming general elections.
Hon. Adeeyo acknowledged that he cannot achieve this alone and appealed to any aggrieved leaders and members to put aside their differences and work together to form a strong, unified team.

During the occasion, Hon. Esupofo led hundreds of NNPP members in defecting to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Surulere Local Government.
In his speech, he thanked the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Hon. Ebenezer Ogunwuyi, and the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, for facilitating their transition to PDP in the Ogbomoso Zone. Hon. Esupofo praised PDP as the most credible party in the state, citing the governor’s impressive achievements, and prayed for the party’s victory in the upcoming general elections.
Among those present at the meeting were Hon. Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Agriculture and rural development, ably represented by Hon. Rasaq Mustapha; Hon. Isaiah Adegbite Alaba the Executive chairman Surulere Local government ably Represented by Hon. Gbemiga Oluremi Chief of staff to the chairman; Hon. Peter Oyetunji Former Oyo state House of Assembly member, represented by Hon Sunday Onaolapo; Hon. Adeola Adeyinka, Vice Chairman, Surulere local government and Hon Okesanjo Adeeyo, Surulere party chairman

Others were Hon. Rafiu Oyenibi; Hon. Srafadeen Muhammed; Alhaji Maruff Gbadamosi; Hon. Ezekiel Abisoye; Hon. Isiaka Omikunle; Hon. Sayo Alagbe; Elder Akanni, Subeb Secretary; Hon. Simeon Ibitoye Leader of the legislative arm and the councilors; the supervisory councilors; the special Assist to the local government; Party Ward chairmen; Local government & Ward party executives.
The inaugural meeting concluded with party members collectively affirming their loyalty to the leadership of His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde and the state party executives. They also resolved to strengthen peace and unity within the party in the local government.
