Rabbita of Yoruba Land to Hold Major Event in Ibadan, Briefs Acting Governor

The League of Imams and Alfas under the umbrella of Robitatu-u-l-Aimmah wal Ulamoh fi Bilaadi Yoruba on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Oyo State Acting Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal at the Governor’s office.

Led by the grand chief imam of Oyo state, Sheikh Abdul Ganiy Agbotomokekere, who was represented by Sheikh Hashim Ateere, the Oyo Hajj Pilgrims Chairman, the League of Imams and Alfas briefed the Acting Governor on its upcoming event scheduled for September 21st at Liberty Stadium in Ibadan.

This included the conferment of titles on prominent Islamic figures, including Dr. Abdul Razaq Ishola as Grand Mufti of Yoruba land, Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Mustapha as Borokini Adini of Yoruba land, and Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Ejalonibu from Ogun state as the spokesperson of Ulamoi in Yorubaland.

Sheikh Ateere explained that the Robitatu-u-l-Aimmah wal Ulamoh fi Bilaadi Yoruba which unites Muslim leaders and scholars across Yorubaland, including Edo and Delta states, is a foundational organization promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim communities.

He highlighted the group’s leadership structure, featuring Chief Imams from various states as grand patrons, including the Mudeerul of Markaz, Sheikh Habeeb Al Ilory, who is the BoT chairman.

While expressing gratitude for their visit, the Acting Governor, Barr. Lawal commended the Islamic scholars for their propagation of Islam in the country.

He noted that Islamic scholars are representatives of Allah who are guiding people to the path of righteousness.

Barr. Lawal reiterated Governor Seyi Makinde’s continued support for the Muslim community, citing achievements of the administration in the last six years, including the construction of six mosques, donation of buses, and roofing of Oja Iba Central Mosque among others.

However, he urged Robbital to encourage Muslims to prioritize proper planning, support Islamic causes, and prevent the misuse of Islam.

He also called for responsible social media usage, cautioning against actions that could tarnish the reputation of the religion.
