Oyo Women Rise Convener, Oloriagba Drags Ogbomoso North Lawmaker Over Inactive Representation

The Convener of Oyo Women Rise in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Oluwakemi Alabi Oloriagba, has criticized the lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Michael, for what she describes as inactive representation.

In a statement on Sunday, Oloriagba expressed disappointment that out of 33 lawmakers, only two are women, and one of them, Hon. Oluranti, is often absent or unavailable when critical matters demand her voice. 

She emphasized that representation is not just a privilege but a mandate that requires diligence, presence, and courage to defend the interests of the constituency.

Oloriagba stressed that the people of Ogbomoso North expect their representative to be actively engaged and advocate for their needs, not just serve as a figurehead. 

She however urged Hon. Oluranti to take her responsibilities more seriously and be more visible in her representation.

Her words: “A Call for Accountability in Oyo State House of Assembly Representation

“It is with deep concern that we observe the state of representation in our House of Assembly. Out of 33 lawmakers, only two are women, and unfortunately, one has remained largely inactive, often absent or unavailable when critical matters demand her voice. This reality is both discouraging and unacceptable.

“The people of Ogbomoso North placed their trust in Hon. Bisi Oluranti to serve as their representative, not in name but in active participation, engagement, and advocacy. Representation is not a privilege; it is a mandate. It demands presence, diligence, and courage to defend the interests of the constituency.

“We cannot continue to clamor for inclusion and gender balance, only for such opportunities to be wasted through inaction. The mandate given to Hon. Oluranti is not personal — it is the collective voice of Ogbomoso North, and anything short of vibrant and consistent representation amounts to a betrayal of that trust.

“We therefore call on Hon. Bisi Oluranti to rise to the responsibility of her office. Ogbomoso North deserves a representative who is visible, accountable, and unwavering in pursuit of the constituency’s welfare. History will not be kind to complacency.
